Ace Attorney Anime revealed

Now, that’s what I call some awesome news. Ace Attorney! Phoenix is getting his own anime! Took them long enough, after 14 years it was about damn time. I’ve recently gotten into the franchise after playing Dual Destinies and then the original trilogy was available in the 3DS eshop for a discounted price and I just had to get it.Carlton

Right now, there’s basically nothing known about this anime. We know Phoenix, Maya and Edgeworth will appear, but it would’ve surprised me more, if they didn’t, but it’s still nice to know. They also announced an air date for April 2016. I can’t wait! 😀

Ballroom e Youkoso (spoiler)

Spoilers including chapter 41. No, I still can’t read Japanese, but I can still look at the raw chapters.

ballroom lolI. Love. This. Manga! ♥

Anyone who knows me and my obsession for manga, is very well aware of two facts:

  1. I love Sportsmanga
  2. I love unusual topics

Ballroom dancing covers pretty much both and I’m in manga-heaven. Besides, this manga is actually really good and a lot of fun to read. And it’s SHOUNEN! The characters are interesting and likable, especially the main character is very strong and his teacher is both hilarious and awesome at the same time. However, what really takes the cake is the energy Image-72during their dances. It’s very powerful and captured perfectly. Ballroom dancing looks nice, but is very exhausting and hard word – I took quite a few courses myself and would’ve liked to continue, but I had no partner, so I quit.

I would love to see this animated, however only done right, please. This means, no stiff animation, we need flowing and fast action here, otherwise it doesn’t look good. However, I doubt it will see an anime any time soon, so it’s way too early to complain about an inferior anime-adaptation.

And of course I’ve already boarded a ship! Unfortunately Chinatsu has not really been shown much in the scanlations yet and most of my information about her is from raw chapters and therefore I haven’t really been able to get her entirely, but from what I’ve seen so far, she’s pretty damn awesome. And a real handful for Tatara, not only has she danced the leading part with a girl as partner in the past, she’s also a fullblown Tsundere and has one hell of a character.

ballroom aweGood luck with handling this explosive girl… Hey, Tatara and Chinatsu do seem to be arguing a lot and at times their dance is more scary than anything else, but every once in a while they do manage to pull off some pretty amazing stuff.

I think they can work together really well, especially because they argue so much. I do need to wait for a tanslation, but if their arguing is actually constructive, it will help them a lot to improve and Tatara can learn a lot from Chinatsus experience as a leader.

As much as they argue and as unfriendly as them seem from time to time, Tatara might have found himself the best partner he could’ve gotten. Not the easiest, but the most suited and I want them to continue dancing together preferably for a very very long time.

Now, give me mooooore~

The Man From U.N.C.L.E.

No, I haven’t seen this movie, so no spoilers. I just watched a 5 minute trailer right now and really needed to get something off my chest:

Can’t we just have Henry Cavill be James Bond from now on?

I admit I’ve never been a fan of Daniel Craigs 007 and would love to see him stop starring in Bond-movies the sooner the better and now that Henry Cavill basically played Bond in The Man from UNCLE… GIVE HIM THE PART!

And no, the fact that Henry Cavill is easily the most attractive male human being in Hollywood right now, has absolutely nothing to do with this. Nope.

Diamond no Ace Act II and …Slam Dunk – What am I smoking?

This Koshien is Sawamura’s last chance to plat at Koshien with Miyuki and who’s blocking the mound? Furuya, obviously. Act II started off by praising Furuya more than ever and getting more and more time by that assh*ole coach, who loves his own personal wunderkind so much. Just great. Even though Sawamura worked so hard and achieved so much, Furuya is praised to heavens for every little thing and is the king of the mound. After only 4 chapters Act II is already pissing me off more than Act I was for a pretty long time actually.

I guess what’s pissing me off so much is that instead of making progress, we’re actually going backwards right now. You don’t always need the Pince of Tennis- like genius who stands above them all, not at all. You also don’t need the likable rookie that you see in Baby Steps, who slowys clibs his way up and makes tons of friends with all kinds of other players – inclusing those who’re better than him and he learns from them. He doesn’t really has an archrival like Sawamura does, so it’s less… “charged up” in general, I guess.

However, there is a manga with a somewhat similar setup and the genius archrival who rules them all and it’s done amazingly well. I admit I’m very biased, because frankly speaking, Slam Dunk by Takehiko Inoue is my faorite “classic” sports manga and I admit Takehiko Inoue is my favorite Mangaka, but Slam Dunk is incredibly well written. And guess what? It’s not even nearly as frustrating as Ace of Diamond is.

The reason is rather simple. Sakuragi, the main character, has never played basketball before, he’s a rookie and way too full of himself. Rukawa deserves all the praise he gets and Sakuragi does not. However, as he grows stronger, Sakurai’s talent and achievements are met with appropriate praise by his team-mates and his coach. Obviosuly, Rukawa still has his fanclub and is the ace and everything, but Sakuragi grows into a well deserved and valuable member of the team. The entire team grows and the manga makes a much bigger effort to develop Sakuragi as a character, compared to much time is spent showing Rukawa in the spotlight.

As for Sawamura, he’s very likable from the start and you know he has a huge potential as a pitcher, combien that with his wish to become the ace of the team, a very realistic dream, you root very strongly for him from the start. Even more so after his first encounter with Miyuki. Sakuragi on the other hand is so laughably bad, his jealously against Rukawa is absurd, because he’s no match for him at all. You root for him, but he’s not a good character and on the field, he literally has nothing to prove himself with. He earns every single ounce of respect by hard word and this is met with appropriate acknowledgement by the other characters and the reader.

Diamond no Ace is already 400+ chapters long, by now, Sawamura should have moved up, but instead re recenly seems to drift farther away than ever. This is very hard to stomach teasing. Sawamura needs the number of the ace during this tournament, because this is Miyukis last tournament. We’re running out of time.

Still, Diamond of Ace is a great sportsmanga and I still celebrate every single time Miyuki walks through a panel (I love that devil), but after 400+ chapters, I really want Sawamura to come visiably closer to his dream.
